This journal is part of the PhotoUnited's new Feedback Folder project so that everyone who has submitted can have a bigger public platform for their work to be appreciated and analysed.
I'm going to keep these journals without "artspeak", keeping points brief and concise so that it is an easy-to-understand educational tool.
Disclaimer: No negative critiques given are insults or discouragement to the photographer. All photographers and artists are encouraged to consider the points given and to experiment more with their work. Each piece will be fairly given 2 pros (positives) and 2 cons (negatives). For information on how to win points, see bottom of journal
Pro: Good composition - well balance between pink and green, and flowers look more effective when they are not taking up the entire frame
Pro: Good detail picked up by camera, i.e. water droplets and flower spots create depth and texture.
Con: Image is quite dull, needs more contrast and vibrancy
Con: Composition might have worked better if the bottom 2 flowers were not cut-off.

Pro: Vibrant colours are eye catching and not too saturated.
Pro: Slight vignette works in favour of the image as it adds depth to the perspective.
Con: Confusing focal point, is it the plant or the sun? (Perhaps if sun was behind the plant, would be more interesting)
Con: Photo could work better in a small frame, either more close up, or a different shape, like a square, to cut off the left and right panes which distract from the centre.
:thumb624515091:
Pro: Effective composition - different heights of buildings, different shapes, different sizes of boats
Pro: Minimal colour palette works well
Con: Highlights and midlights could be made brighter
Con: Clarity is lost a little bit on the architectural features
:thumb678983296:
Pro: Effective lighting, good balance of light and dark
Pro: Composition using square format is well balance, two focus points (girl and window) but both separated, complimenting each other
Con: Clarity is a bit low and grainy
Con: Midlights and lowlights are very close together, more contrast between those values would the image look less flat.
Pro: If going for a surreal styling, the work succeeds, as the model's lighting does not match that of the background
Pro: Very good clarity on the model (i.e skin and facial features)
Con: It does look unnatural, some areas are very very dark and some highlighted areas on model's face are either too bright or have changed colour (?)
Con: Photo may have worked better in a Portrait orientation
Pro: Good capture of movement
Pro: Overall clarity and depth of field (focus/blur) is clean.
Con: The front row of bulbs (flowers) needs more contrast and saturation. It is a dull part of the photo.
Con: The frame could have been cropped on the right, to remove the twig and leaf that is partially shown. (Less is more)
Pro: Hard to fault this photo, very clean lighting
Pro: Minimal composition is very effective
Con: The gradient from left to right (where the leftest edge is much darker) is distracting from the rest of the image. Continual brightness would balance the image.
Con: The vertical space of table beneath the petals and vase could be left longer (taller). At the moment those focus objects look cramped against the bottom frame.
Pro: Lighting is bright and clear
Pro: Interesting focal point - unusual fungus
Con: There is a lot of information in the frame, try to limit what is in the image or create more blur (Less is more)
Con: Possibly a closer angle would achieve more focus on the fungus.
These works will remain in the Feedback Folder for about another week, then I will remove them (so that the folder never gets overcrowded).
