How can I contribute to the group?
There are many ways our members can contribute to the group, such as;
  • Invite new members to the group
  • Suggest ways we can improve our group, including suggestions for the monthly contest themes, or updates to our Submissions Policy.
  • Participate in our monthly contest
  • Join in on group discussions.
  • Donate towards the TeamPhotoUnited points pool

I was invited to join the group but the invitation was withdrawn. Why?
Invitations have been sent out to DeviantArt members who have shown a high-standard of photography in their most recent contributions to their gallery. Unfortunately, DeviantArt have a limit to the number of these invitation requests we can hold open in our group log.

For this reason, unanswered invitations will be withdrawn. This is not a reflection on you, or your gallery, but to give the more recently active members of the DeviantArt community the opportunity to join the group.

If you were unable to respond to the request you can join PhotoUnited by clicking on the "Join Our Group" button where your membership will be immediately accepted.

SUBMISSIONS

What can I submit to the gallery?
Photographic submissions of high-technical, artistic quality which follow basic rules of photography can be submitted. For more information see Submissions Policy.

My submission was declined from the gallery, why?
Each photograph submitted must follow the guidelines and Submissions Policy. If your image was declined and you feel this was an unfair judgement, please leave a comment on the submission notice where an Admin will get back to you.

Do submissions to the monthly gallery have to follow a certain theme?
Images submitted to the folder named after the current month are open to most photographic categories (See Submissions Policy for more details). This is a place where our members can show the group what they have most recently taken. It is an alternative place to submit your work if you do not wish to participate in the monthly themed contest.

What can I submit to the "Here's One I Made Earlier" gallery?
The HOIME gallery was created for our members to showcase their previous achievements of highly-technical, artistic talent before joining PhotoUnited.

Can you explain the difference between "Submission Date" and "Creation Date", and why it is important?
Many of our members contributed to the "Creation v Submission" debate, which resulted in an update to our Submissions Policy.

Creation date is the day the photograph was taken.
Which is based on the Camera Data as it appears on your deviation page.
Submission date is the day the photograph was added to DeviantArt.
As noted on your deviation page.
Our members believe that submissions to the contest and monthly gallery should be images that have been created within the last month, rather than a recent submission of an image that was created more than one month ago.

For this reason, all images submitted to the monthly and contest galleries are now based on their creation date. Submissions to the HOIME gallery do not follow this rule.

CONTESTS

Will there be contests?
Yes, we will be running many contests throughout the year.

What kind of contests can I enter?
We will host a monthly themed contest in conjunction with our TechJour, and also one annual contest with fantastic prizes up for grabs. We also run a monthly DeviantPoints raffle for new members who have joined before the end of the month. To enter, simply write "I'm a happy snapper" in the comments section of this journal. We'll know why you've commented.

What kind of prizes will be up for grabs?
Anything from a virtual pat on the head to core memberships. The possibilities are endless when the group join together and contribute to the annual prize pool.

CONCERNS

Some of the submissions in the gallery don't meet the guidelines. Why are they in the gallery?
Every effort is made to ensure our gallery submissions follow the guidelines. If you find an image that does not meet the entry criteria please contact our group admin with a link to the image.

I am being bullied by a member of this group. What should I do?
PhotoUnited is a strict anti-bullying zone. Any members found violating the anti-bullying terms as stated by DeviantArt will be removed from the group indefinitely. If you are being bullied, threatened, attacked or feel you are being excluded or targeted by any member of this group please contact the administrator with more information on the incident.
